"We have this obsession with wanting people to love their jobs," she told me. "But purpose alone at work doesn't account for systemic oppression. It does not account for how a system has caused environmental racism, systemic racism. It doesn't improve your cost of living, your transportation, your healthcare system, or the pay gap in the workplace."
